Cortland Golightly is a comprehensive, fee-only financial planner. He began his career in the financial services industry in 2006 as a wholesaler for The Hartford where he managed Arizona, New Mexico and Las Vegas. In this role, Cortland was a professional that financial advisors would call to help find the solutions to help meet their customers’ retirement income planning needs. He gained a unique perspective on clients’ needs as they headed toward the twilight of their careers and how to best position themselves for their retirement. After 2 years, Cortland was promoted to manage Northern California and his home, the Bay Area. Cortland quickly found that he had a knack for connecting with people and explaining complex investment and retirement planning strategies in a manner that was straight forward and easy to understand. With his success came a desire to quarterback the entire process for clients.
In 2009, during the turmoil of the financial crisis, Cortland decided to further commit himself to helping people retire successfully and in 2010 he made the move to start his own practice at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. There, he built a practice that focused on taking a tailored approach to helping his clients meet their goals.
Cortland and his team specialize in all areas of financial and investment planning. From helping clients with their 401(k), IRA and brokerage account allocations to Life Insurance, Long Term Care and Retirement Income Planning, Cortland realizes the individual nature of each client’s situation in order to help build a customized solution that fits their individual needs. Whether you’re an employee of a local large corporation or a self-employed business owner, Cortland and his team will build a plan that will not only give you clarity, but sense of security, because at the end of the day that is what this process is all about.
Cortland was born in Berkeley and grew up in Walnut Creek. He attended De La Salle High School where he excelled in the classroom as well as on the track and football field. While there, he played an integral role in helping the Spartans win 2 State Championships in Football and 2 BVAL and NCS Championships in Track and Field.
